120 years ago a small, faithful group of people who love Jesus started Sault Ste. Marie Free Methodist Church. A relocation, renovation, and a new name later, Hillside FMC continues to exsist to help each other know, grow in, and show God's love.
We gather each Sunday morning to give thanks to a good God who loves us so very much. You'll find around 100 people of various ages and from all walks of life singing, praying, and learning from God's Word together.

We love to hang out together. Whether it's through mid-week life groups or kids/youth programs or prayer meetings or special events, we are always looking for meaningful ways to do life together.

We take Jesus' call to "love your neighbour" seriously.
We know many in the Sault are hurting and it can seem overwhelming trying to solve these big societal issues. As we prayerfully support municipal, provincial, and national decision-makers, we focus on coming alongside individuals and groups to practically help in the small, everyday ways. We've worked with SOYA, Pauline's Place, The Pregnancy Centre, and The Salvation Army to name just a few.

Hillside Free Methodist Church has a meaningful story shaped by faith, perseverance, and growth. Originally known as Sault Free Methodist Church, we served under that name for many years until undergoing a name change in 2022–2023 to better reflect our identity and the community we’re a part of today.
Our roots trace back to a small, faithful congregation committed to living out the Gospel. As the church family grew, so did the need for space. In August 2004, we were blessed with the opportunity to expand our physical building through the construction of a large addition—allowing us to welcome more people and offer more ministries.
From our humble beginnings to our present-day ministry, God has been faithful. We are grateful for our past and excited for what lies ahead as we continue to serve as Hillside Free Methodist Church.
